115 kg Giant Mekong Catfish

This is a very good size Giant Mekong Catfish 115 kg caught by “Elvi and his wife” at the BSR Fishing Resort in Bangkok Thailand.

Wow I have not caught one that big yet, I can imagine it was quite a thrill for Elvi. For anyone that doesn’t know the Mekong Giant Catfish is considered the hardest fighting freshwater fish in the world and a big one like this is can be compared to an underwater steam train. One look that that body and massive tail and you will see why.
I always get a kick out of seeing European Anglers that have caught a 100 kg Wells Catfish hook into a Mekong Giant Catfish of the same weight these powerhouse game fish make the Wels Catfish look like a tub of lard comparison.
Again well done Elvi great catch, 115 kg ? – I am a bit envious : )
Hi everyone, this is Elvi and I am so pleased that this catch on 30th October 09 is posted on your website.
This big guy took me almost an hour to land on PE8 line and it went from one end of the pond to the other and back again, several times!!!… I was lucky that it took my heavier setup or else???
A special thanks to my guide John who helped make this happen.
P.S This is my first try for the Mekongs and I guess I’ll be back soon to better that…I hope
